Cropping Images to 750x375

A few people have asked about cropping images for the site, so I thought I'd do a quick post about it here.
I use Adobe Photoshop when editing my photos for the site. I start with my full-sized image from my digital camera or from my scanned photo.
- Using the selection tool (aka the marquis tool), I set it to use a "fixed aspect ratio", and set the width to 2 and the height to 1.
- Next I select the area of the image that I want to clip for my final image.
- Then I go to the Image menu and select Crop. Now I have an image that has a 2:1 aspect ratio.
- All that is left is to resize the image: I go back to the Image menu and select Image Size.... I set the width to 750 and the height to 375, and it is all set.
Another way to get the 750x375 image size is to start by resizing your image to 750px wide, and letting your image editing software keep everything in proportion. Then all you have to crop is the height to get it to 375px high.
If anyone has another method that they like,
let me know, and I will append it to this note.
